Pew Center on Global Climate Change

The Pew Center on Global Climate Change works to educate key policy makers and the public about the causes and potential consequences of climate change and to assist communities in developing solutions to this environmental challenge. The center's web site features introductory information on global warming, policy reports, and the role of business in developing efficient, effective solutions to the climate problem.

International Polar Year 2007-2008

The International Polar Year 2007-2008 is an initiative through the International Council of Science and the World Meteorological Organization to promote polar research, educate the public at-large about the importance of these regions to the Earth's climate, and encourage young people to pursue careers in this field.

Arctic Research Consortium of the United States (ARCUS)

In 2002, the Arctic Research Consortium of the United States (ARCUS) released a report of recommendations on improving scientific literacy through focusing on the arctic environment and cultures and arctic research. Study for Environmental Arctic Change (SEARCH)

Study for Environmental Arctic Change (SEARCH) is an interagency effort, through ARCUS, to understand the nature, extent, and future development of the system-scale change presently seen in the Arctic. The report from the SEARCH Implementation Workshop (2005) can be downloaded here.

Cold Regions Bibliography Project

The Cold Regions Bibliography Project has developed two online databases. The Antarctic Bibliography includes references works from all disciplines related to the region. The Bibliography on Cold Regions Science and Technology includes references to scientific and engineering research related to material and operations in a winter battlefield, the nature and impact of cold on facilities and activities, cold-related environmental problems, and the impact of human activity on cold environments.

Greenland Summit Camp

The Greenland Summit Camp web site provides information about ongoing research at Summit Station. Visitors to the site can monitor current weather conditions and even take a virtual tour of the camp.

Mission Antarctica

On March 1, Sedna IV, a ship equipped with high definition film-making equipment and an editing room, embarked on an expedition to the edge of the South Pole's ice pack to document the effect of climate change in Antarctica. Through the expedition web site, visitors can track the ship's progress, watch video reports, take a virtual tour of the ship, and send messages to the crew.

The EnviroLink Network provides access to over 200 on-line resources about climate change.

EcoKids provides a carbon dioxide game.

Climate Change Education

Climate Change Education is dedicated to educational programs about global warming science and solutions. It was created by science center docents for kids, students, families, teachers, and museum staff.

North Pole Expedition

In April 2006, Prince Albert II of Monaco, in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund and the Oceanic Museum of Monaco, led an expedition to the North Pole to help raise public awareness of potential consequences of global warming, including rising sea levels, increased frequency and intensity of some natural disasters, and the emergence of new diseases.
