Gift Shop

The team pictured above surveyed the gift shop at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science (NCMLS).

A man in a wheelchair faces a cashier's counter at eye level while a woman with a checklist at his left looks on.

Group members followed the checklist to assess aisle widths and countertop heights to determine whether merchandise could be reached.

A boy in profile holds a white cane and faces two women to the right who are looking down at their checklists.

Seventh-grader Matthew Didsbury (left) and his mother, Gail, were members of this team. Matthew took the day off from school to advise team members about what worked and what didn't for him in the gift shop. He and his family are frequent visitors to NCMLS. Matthew reads and writes Braille.
